Kimberly Perry, MS, LPCA

I believe anyone can benefit from professional counseling. We all have strengths and a capacity for growth and increased self-knowledge. I enjoy helping people gain insights into themselves and I feel it is an honor to be able to be a witness to a small part of someone's life journey. The worth of every soul is great and everyone's story matters.
I received a BA in English, with a minor in Travel and Tourism Studies from Brigham Young University. After working for several years, I went back to school and graduated in 2012 with a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
While I enjoy helping my clients with various life experiences and personal concerns, two areas of special interest are working with people who are dealing with physical illness and spirituality concerns. I had the opportunity to intern as a counselor with the Department of Spiritual Care and Wholeness at Cone Health while attending UNCG. During my internship, I facilitated grief & loss groups at the Behavioral Health Hospital and a Caregivers support group at the Cone Cancer Center. I provided ongoing individual counseling services for cancer patients, cancer survivors, and caregivers. I also provided counseling services for patients at Wesley Long Hospital and guided meditation sessions for hospital staff. I currently facilitate the cancer survivor group Finding Your New Normal at the Cone Health Cancer Center several times a year.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) in North Carolina. As an LPCA, I am under supervision while I work toward full Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) designation. My therapeutic approach incorporates multiple theories of counseling. Theories that I pull heavily from include: Adlerian, Emotion-Focused, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, and Acceptance & Commitment Theory (ACT). I tailor my theoretical focus to the needs of each client and I combine traditional talk therapy with mindfulness meditation, guided imagery, biofeedback, and expressive art when appropriate.
I am a member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of North Carolina (LPCANC).
Having grown up in Northern Mexico, I am bilingual in English and Spanish.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my husband, working in the yard, reading, baking, and photography.
